Mine

Things Laurel says to indicate she has (or wants) possession of something:

  • Laurel [pronounced Yorel]
  • baby
  • mine
  • my turn
  • [shrill scream]

She says "my turn" mostly when we are reading to the kids, because we let them take turns choosing the next book. She does not always wait until it is actually her turn, however.

When I first heard her say it I was surprised, because Isaac never showed any interest in advocating for himself that way. As he was the only child, he seldom needed to! This actually became a problem on the playground, because he didn't know how to assert himself to get a turn. He was too polite.

The second child develops a different set of skills, I guess.
