Time

"Book time!"

This is one of Laurel's newest phrases. It's not just books, however -- she likes to announce it's "time" for various favorite things.

An obvious one is "Snack time!" But I've also heard her say "Daddy time!" when she wants Craig to rock her to sleep, "Car time!" when she wants to go somewhere, "Milk time!" when she wants to nurse, and "Science time!"

Laurel doesn't have any idea what "science" is, but she knows Isaac likes to play science games, and she likes to play with Isaac. So announcing that it's "science time!" is her friendly attempt to get Isaac to play with her.

Even though he doesn't play science with her, they are usually excellent playmates -- especially when I am busy doing something else. They play together wonderfully in the late afternoon while I am cleaning the kitchen or getting dinner started. Speaking of "book time," I love to see them sitting together and looking at books, Laurel listening intently while Isaac pretends to read to her.
