Crawling
Today is Laurel's 11-month birthday. You may recall the big question from last month was: does she crawl yet? The answer is still: no. But at least now she's trying! Uh, unsuccessfully.
Even though she is clearly unhappy, this particular attempt was unusually lengthy for her. Maybe it spells progress?
A more typical scenario goes like this: she is in a sitting position, reaches for something just out of reach, topples accidentally onto her stomach, and just lies there and fusses until rescued. When she does end up on her stomach, always involuntarily, she usually lifts her arms and legs off the ground by arching her back, which means her knees aren't even touching the ground -- hard to crawl that way.
She's gotten fairly good at scooting on her bottom in a sitting position, however. Maybe to be fair I should also post a video of her succeeding in her attempts at mobility.
