Merry Christmas!

I hope everyone out there in blogland has had a happy holiday. To be festive, here's the picture we used for our Christmas card! (We took it way back on Thanksgiving, but we can pretend.)

In a day or two I will post a real Christmas picture -- one of Isaac playing with a new toy. I guess I must be a rookie at this parenting thing, because I missed two incredible photo opportunities today: (1) Isaac's eyes widening in amazement when he got a look at his very first gift of the day -- he mostly opened the package himself, and I guess it had been fun enough pulling off strips of wrapping paper, because he was genuinely shocked to see something terrific inside the package too (it was a wooden puzzle with pictures of various vehicles), and (2) Isaac rejecting a brand-new and previously fascinating Hotwheels bulldozer as soon as he saw the big front loader Craig had unwrapped for him -- for a moment Isaac just stared at the front loader, bulldozer forgotten in a hand hanging limply by his side, then he tossed the bulldozer behind him with a flick of the wrist as he rushed toward the front loader.

All in all, we enjoyed our time with my family -- we had good food, good gift-giving, and great company. And now we get to do it all over again with Craig's family!

Isaac would like to say a few new words on this happy occasion: Oma, Opa, Joel, pie, donkey, hee-haw, and medicine. Especially pie, which he ate at nearly every meal, including breakfast. Happy holidays!
