Not all bad

With my last post I may have given the impression that Isaac has been nothing but unpleasant as we visit his paternal grandparents, when in truth it hasn't been all bad.

He has had a great time being able to let himself in and out of every room here, as the doors have lever handles which he can operate with ease -- I'm so glad our interior doors at home have knobs! He has also enjoyed the side-by-side front-loading washer and dryer -- what's not to like about doors, dials, lights, putting items in and taking them out? We went twice to a park with a truly toddler-sized play structure, and all by himself he climbed the stairs to the top and slid down the side (on his belly, feet first) -- that was a first. We went to the Greenville County Museum of Art yesterday, and he didn't mind too much -- we found pictures containing some of his favorite objects, including a bus and a donkey. And now that he's feeling better he has said a few new words, including gentle, eye, knee, hole, plate, tea, cookie, and tissue.

While we were at the park Isaac spent some time investigating stuff on the ground, of course, like sticks and strips of bark mulch. He picked up one intriguing object and Craig said, "That's a pine cone." We watched in surprise as Isaac raised it to his head and began running it through his hair. What was he doing?

Then we got it, and simultaneously we said, "Pine comb!"

Later, Craig quipped it was a good thing we hadn't given him an ice cream cone.

P.S. More South Carolina pictures added to the album.
