The Year That Was

I have never used one of those communal blogging themes known as memes (secretly I think of them as "story starters," a phrase that must be left over from elementary school language arts classes), mostly because I have no shortage of my own topics. However, I thought I would participate in an end-of-year meme that I found over at Rachel's blog.

I am a sucker for year-in-review analyses, and in this case it seemed even more appropriate because this is the end of my first year of blogging. Here are the rules as passed down to me:
1) Go into your monthly archives.
2) Collect the first sentence you wrote in each month.
3) Publish them together for amusement and fun.
So without any editing, without trying to select the most representative sentences, without picking the most interesting posts, here we go:

- - -

January
So far this New Year's Day has been less life-changingly dramatic than last year's.

February
Ten things that entertained Isaac while on the airplane (at least some of the time); you'll have to imagine the underlying tone of tense desperation:

March
I was out for a walk yesterday with the dog and the baby, and we paused when we passed an elderly woman who wanted to talk to us.

April
Historically I have not been a sentimental person.

May
So many new things!

June
I mentioned in my last post that Isaac had five teeth.

July
Isaac has never been a big one for copying us.

August
This is World Breastfeeding Week, and even though I'm absolutely and totally in favor of breastfeeding, I can see something a little bit funny about this.

September
Giving out birthday party favors to one-year-olds: required or dispensable?

October
Today our playgroup took an outing to a pumpkin patch; a few pictures are in the album.

November
Isaac took four little walks today, all ranging from five to six feet in length.

December
Remember just three weeks ago I wrote about how Isaac was consistently sleeping 12 hours a day?

- - -

I'm not sure that was particularly revealing (or interesting). I guess if I want to write a post that truly sums up "TCB: The Year That Was" I'll have to do it the hard way.
