Snow day

Those readers who only know me from reading this blog may wonder what the big deal is about a little snow in our backyard.

We live in California! In the east San Francisco Bay Area! We have a mild coastal climate! Well, we do live on the other side of the coastal foothills, so we often get frost early on winter mornings. And maybe every three or four years half-hearted snowflakes fall from the sky without ever sticking. But on Monday we had real snow overnight, more than an inch deep, and it was still on the ground when we went out to play at 10:00 a.m.

Isaac enjoyed it for a while, although he found it too cold. I have to agree.
