Do you remember the video of Laurel's first unsuccessful attempts to crawl, back in early December when she was 11 months old? Well, she finally figured something out seven weeks later, back in late January when she was not quite 13 months old. Yes, this is Laurel's first crawl:
Another seven weeks have passed since this video was shot, but during this time Laurel's crawling technique hasn't improved much. Unlike in this video, now she doesn't have to think so much about what she's doing with her limbs, but even though it comes easier to her, I think she's actually slower. She still uses only one knee, and pushes off with the other leg out straight, but these days she doesn't hold herself so far off the ground; she's back in a semi-sitting position, and has even developed the habit of sitting back on her bottom between every scootch. That slows her down considerably!
