Fingers crossed

Doesn't Laurel look peaceful? This was taken one morning this week when I went into her room to wake her up for the day. Seems strange to wake a sleeping baby, doesn't it? But if she sleeps past 8:30 a.m. she doesn't want to fall asleep at night.

Sometimes this happens even with the regulated wake-up time. This past month there have been seven or eight nights when she has just decided she doesn't want to go to sleep. She's obviously tired, but unwilling to relax.

Tonight is one of those nights. It's 10:45 p.m. and Craig and I have been taking turns trying to get her to sleep since 8:30 p.m., with a few brief breaks to give all of us a chance to recover.

It's Craig's turn right now, but I can hear Laurel crying as he rocks her. That means it's my turn soon.
