Isaac has been busy. Since we got back from our trip two weeks ago, he's gone to four different parks (on five different occasions), a playdate at a friend's house, the Oakland Zoo, Kindergym class, the Lindsay Wildlife Museum, and four different stores (on four different occasions). I think he's enjoyed most of it, with the exception of waiting around in the store while I chose new socks for him. I had been stretching size 6-12 month socks over his poor feet due to my general disinterest in shopping -- turns out he needs socks in size 2T-3T! (I think I'd better take him shopping for bigger shoes pretty soon, too.)
Last week was our first Kindergym class, and he started out a bit hesitant as usual. However, by the end I had to coax him away from the wooden rocking vicuna, so I think he's going to enjoy it. He liked seeing animals at the zoo and the wildlife museum, and he really liked the hands-on discovery room at the museum. But I think he had the most fun at one of the parks -- it had a soft sand playground and was right by a busy bus stop. Sand and buses; what could be better?
Speaking of buses, we moved his carseat around, so now he rides facing forward. In California you're allowed to do this when your child is one year old, assuming he also weighs at least 20 pounds. Izzy was 22 pounds at his one-year check-up, but we kept him rear-facing because we heard it was safer. But he just got too tall -- he had to bend his knees because his feet hit the back seat, and eventually his flexed legs got in the way of our easily fastening the carseat buckles. Now he can see where we're going, and more importantly, he can see everyone else -- he announces every bus, truck, and mailman we pass. It makes driving him around a lot more fun for both of us, which is maybe why we've gone so many places recently.
