Heaven help us, I'm going to indulge in more "kids say the darnedest things." I promise to return with the insightful commentary ... just as soon as Isaac stops saying cute stuff.

Usually when we ask Isaac whom he wants to give him his bath, he answers "Mama." Several nights ago, however, he answered "Craig." (Understandably this made us snicker.)
But after a pause Isaac thought better of it, and said with emphasis, "Nobody. No bath at all." Then, perhaps deciding to cover all his bases, he added, "No shower at all." Finally, outlining his plan for the night, he said, "Put on pajamas and go to bed. No bath."
We stuck with his first answer, and Craig gave him his bath.

As I mentioned earlier, Isaac caught a cold while we were in Montana. Craig and I also came down with it, so we've all been feeling under the weather. Perhaps that's what inspired Isaac to say yesterday, as he presented me with a small plastic school bus, "School bus not feeling very good."
"Oh, poor school bus," I said. "What feels bad?"
"Engine hurts," Isaac answered.
Without laughing, I asked, "What should we do?"
"Pat him," Isaac said, gently patting the underside of the bus and making the wheels spin.
I wondered if this wasn't some sort of projection on his part, so I asked, "How is Isaac feeling?"
"Isaac feel good," he answered absently, still ministering to his ailing bus.
He insisted the bus needed some lunch to "make feel better," and sure enough he did manage to stuff several pieces of quesadilla inside it. (Later I extracted these and fed them to the dog.) Then he told me in succession that the bus needed 1) a kiss, 2) a Band-aid, and 3) a wet rag.
I'm a big believer in the power of a damp washcloth to sooth various complaints, and I guess Isaac agrees with me.

While we were in Montana, I had to put lotion on Isaac's dry and rashy skin. One morning while I was in the bathroom styling my hair, he said to me, "Need little bit lotion," so I put some lotion on one of his legs.
He looked down at his bare legs, and said, "Need little bit hair product on other knee."
