Second-hand stories

Three things Isaac recently said to Craig, who then recounted them to me:

1) Scene: in the parking lot of the grocery store, sitting behind the wheel of a real fire truck

Isaac: Isaac drive big ladder truck.

Craig: Wow, are you driving the big ladder truck?

Isaac: [with emphasis] Pretend.

2) Scene: in the living room, playing with toy food and cookware in his kitchen set-up

Isaac: Isaac cook dinner.

Craig: What's for dinner?

Isaac: Ask Daddy.*

*This is perhaps only funny if you know that Craig always cooks dinner.


3) Scene: at a toy store train table, picking up a train another boy had just linked together

Isaac: Big long train.

Craig: Yes, Joey made a big long train.

Isaac: Good job Joey!
