Solemn

The Internet connection in our hotel room is too slow to upload our vacation pictures to the online album, but here's one picture. It was taken on the Fourth of July.

Isaac's solemn expression seems an appropriate indication of how we're feeling right now. We're having an enjoyable enough time in New Mexico, I suppose, but we're also very sad because my cousin-in-law passed away this week.

I'm having a hard time blogging. I'm not ready to write about Rochelle, since I'm still shocked by her death. I haven't been able to blog about my usual topics, either, because every time I start to write about how Isaac hates the swimming pool, or how I like his new bib, I think about my cousin's daughters -- three little girls who no longer have a mother.

I feel heartbroken and lucky all at once.
